O’Gorman High School Athletics 9th Annual Dinner Auction

Schools Raise Funds to Help Haiti

The devastating earthquake that changed the lives of the people of Haiti has taken place over a month ago, but the students and staff of each school within the Northeastern Catholic District School Board have not forgotten the Haitian victims. With $9,203.19 raised to date, the fundraising efforts are still going on.
O’Gorman High School Grade 8 Information Session on February 16th

O’Gorman High School would like to invite all current Grade 8 Students and their parents to attend an Information Session on Tuesday, February 16th, 2010 starting at 6:30 pm to ease the transition into Grade 9.
The theme of “Ease The Transition Into Grade 9” will be highlighted throughout the evening with presentations and school tours.
St. Patrick School in Cobalt Makes Donation to Help Victims of Earthquake in Haiti

The St. Patrick School Youth Group presents a cheque for
$500 to Fr. John Lemire as a donation to be sent to Development and Peace to assist the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
Four hundred dollars was raised through fundraising efforts of the St. Patrick Youth Group and $100 was added from St. Patrick School Staff.
Junior Kindergarten Registration on Monday, January 18th

Your neighbourhood Catholic schools will be open to assist you with the registration process.

Board of Trustees Chair and Vice-Chair Appointments for NCDSB

The Northeastern Catholic District School Board held elections at their annual inaugural meeting on Friday, December 18th, for the position of Chair and Vice-Chair.
Rick Brassard was acclaimed Chair of the Board for the 3rd year in a row and Martin Drainville was elected as Vice-Chair for the period of 2009-2010.
St. Paul School Selected as New Early Learning Program Site

The Northeastern Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce that St. Paul School in Timmins, ON has been selected as our Early Learning Program site for 2010-2011. In September of 2010, kindergarten students will benefit from a partnership between a classroom Teacher and a registered Early Childhood Educator.

Trillium North Program Experiences Successful First Year!

Northeastern Catholic District School Board Appoints New Student Success Leader

French Immersion Program Enhanced for September 2009 
Timmins, June, 2009:The Northeastern Catholic District School Board will be enhancing their current French Immersion model for the 2009-2010 school year. As our French Immersion Catholic Schools open on August 31, the total French instruction will increase from 50% to 90% in all Grade one classrooms across the Districts of Cochrane and Temiskaming.

New Director of Education Appointed 
Timmins, April 21st, 2009: The Northeastern Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Glenn Sheculski to the position of Director of Education effective July 1st, 2009. Mr. Sheculski brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position having worked as Superintendent of Leadership and Faith Development, Program Principal, School Principal, Department Head, Guidance Counselor and Teacher at the elementary, intermediate and secondary levels.
Financial Services Department to Receive Provincial Award 
Timmins, March 30th, 2009: The Northeastern Catholic District School Board is proud to announce that our Board’s Finance Department will receive the Employer Service Excellence Award from the Teachers’ Pension Plan in May. This award is only presented to the top three of 194 organizations within the province of Ontario.
Interim Director of Education Appointed 
Timmins, March 28th, 2009: The Northeastern Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce that Tricia Stefanic Weltz has been appointed Interim Director of Education. Mrs. Weltz will assume the role of Interim Director of Education effective April 1st, 2009 and will remain at the helm until such time as a new Director of Education has been selected.
Director of Education Retires After 30 Years in Education 
After 30 years in education, Paul Toffanello recently announced his plans to retire from his position as Director of Education for the Northeastern Catholic District School Board.
Catholic Schools Raise over $34,400 for Mozambique
Since September 2008, Northeastern Catholic District School Board schools and board staff have been raising funds to assist the missions of the Consolata Missionaries in Mozambique, Africa. After months of fundraising activities and events, the Board is thrilled to announce that we have surpassed the original goal of $30,000 by raising over $34,400.

Collective Bargaining Success 
Timmins, December: The Northeastern Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce that a new four-year collective agreement between the Board and the Northeastern Unit, Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA), has been ratified. As well, a collective agreement with the Canadian Union for Public Employees (CUPE), Local 4681, was also approved.
Professional Development for Custodians 
Timmins, November:The Northeastern Catholic District School Board's Manager of Plant, Bob Landry, facilitated a workshop to all custodians focused on the Board's commitment to ensuring the health and safety of all staff, students and service providers.
National Book Week : November 15th - 22nd, 2008 
Timmins, November:The Curriculum Team wants to share their favourite children's books to highlight the importance of literacy in the lives of our students. They have also included an additional resource for our educators to support the recent TD Book Give Away "Too Many Books!" donated to Grade 1 students across Canada.
St. Paul School Open House 
Timmins, October: St. Paul School's Open House and Community Information Night welcomed a large number of friends and families on October 2nd from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. It was a night for families to come to the school and meet their child's teacher, enjoy some refreshments, as well as learn about our community partners.
