Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association - O.E.C.T.A.

Welcome! You are now one of 34,000 members of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association who teach in Ontario's English-language Catholic elementary and secondary schools. O.E.C.T.A. has existed since 1944, actively supporting and protecting members. You belong to the Northeastern Unit (190 regular teachers, 35 occasional teachers) and there is an executive that meets monthly.

OBJECTIVES

  • To promote the principles of Catholic education;
  • To develop a greater understanding among parents, teachers and students;
  • To work for the moral, intellectual, religious, and professional perfection of its members;
  • To improve the status of the teaching profession in Ontario;
  • To secure for teachers a leading role in education;
  • To co-operate with other teacher organizations in improving the standards of education;
  • To promote the completion of the Catholic school system;
  • To represent members in all matters related to collective bargaining
