Coding helps students with collaborating, problem solving, logical thinking, creativity, communication, organization and so much more. The aim of Hour of Code is to spark an interest in coding and to encourage more students to explore careers in computer science. Coding is what allows software, apps and websites to be created.
The Hour of Code has become a global movement in over 180 countries around the world. Many schools across the NCDSB took part. Students chose self directed activities from https://hourofcode.com. Students and teachers were encouraged to document their experience by tweeting using the hashtags #OntarioCodes and #NCDSBCodes.
